Ebook publishing & Time for a new start!
I felt the time was right for a career change, and then Covid hit full force. What to do? That’s when the journey into ebook publishing began. Why not? This would incorporate working in an area that brings me joy (anything “books”), while operating remotely from home — plus it could provide income. My husband and I starting from nothing. (He’s a software engineer and can read HTML.) The only thing I brought to this partnership was a love of books!
We already knew there was an excess of books printed in hard copy but not available in electronic form – we are owners of many of them. Numerous works are out-of-print, some still under copyright and some in public domain. Feeling that there would be great opportunities to simply convert these works into electronic format and provide them to the public, we began the journey into ebook publishing.
Well, after almost two years, much has been learned about the process. We’ve become proficient and comfortable with the conversion of a physical book to electronic form (which we want to share) but, as with any project, there are “bumps in the road.” At this part of the journey, finding content is a more difficult challenge than originally anticipated. More on these subjects to follow!
