The Knockabout Club Adventure Series is part of a very successful travelogue series. It is comprised of nine titles, including “AlongShore” — an arctic adventure.
The goal of Our House Treasures was to produce an extremely comfortable read of the first three books in The Knockabout Club Series. The Knockabout Club AlongShore was published in 1882 and is the second book in The Knockabout Club Series.
The three original books in the series were written C.A. Stephens, a prolific author of boys’ adventure books. These three books take members of the Knockabout Club to Maine, Labrador (Newfoundland), Mexico and Central America.
These titles, now available at Our House Treasures, include:
- The Knockabout Club in the Woods (1881)
- The Knockabout Club Alongshore (1882)
- The Knockabout Club in the Tropics (1883)
At the time, these books were marketed to youth. However, they are definitely appropriate and good reads for all ages. Each book describes regions from the 1800’s. They present a unique perspective from that time period which the reader can compare to life today. Many things have changed — some things have not!
